Masterlist of Podfic

I made a separate LJ a while back for my podfic, just to keep things organized. The masterlists are sorted by either author or fandom, because I'm an abominable fandom butterfly and my podfics are a bit on the scattered side. Follow the fake cuts for links!

ETA (4/18/2012): I'm now on the AO3 under regonym, here, and new podfics will be posted to there, instead, as well as at the amplificathon communities on LJ and dreamwidth.

Drop me a note if you've downloaded something and you enjoyed it! ♥

Dear Yuletide Author

Hi Yuletide Author! This is my first year participating, so I'm still flailing around a bit about all this, but the main thing I wanted to say is that the things I'll prompt below are just suggestions. :) If you feel the urge to write something completely your own, that's cool! I'm sure I'll appreciate whatever you write. <3

Alright, that's it for me! Best of luck, and thank you again!

Pod Aware 2012 Day 2: Podfic Fandom

For many of us, podfic is more than just a fanwork, it's a community. We form friendships, support each other, discuss our shared passions and push each other to new forms and heights of creativity. To find out more information on podfic and podfic fandom, check out Pod Aware on DW, LJ or Tumblr.

This is my second and last podcast for Pod Aware 2012! The fest will be going on for the rest of the week, so please check out the other topic days they've got planned, some of them look pretty neat. :D

Podcast Length: 6 min
Download options: mp3 format (2.6 MB) || m4b format (2.3 MB)

The sites I reference in this podcast are jinjurly's Audiofic Archive, the Amplificathon community (also on LJ here), the Podfic Tips community, and the Podfic Big Bang community.

Here's the full transcript for the podcast:

Pod Aware 2012 Day 1: How We Podfic

There are so many ways to create podfic and so many ways to listen. We might engage with podfic curled up in bed, in our closet, while commuting or at the gym, in our bathroom with makeshift soundproofing. To find out more information on podfic and how we podfic, check out Pod Aware on DW, LJ or Tumblr.

This is my first time participating in Pod Aware, as well as my first time ever making a podcast! So please forgive me if I sound a little stiff, it was deeply, deeply weird to be recording without a fic in front of me. ^^; I think my recording for Day 2 turned out a little better than this one, but hey, I am all about the learning curve.

Podcast Length: 6 min
Download options: mp3 format (2.4 MB) || m4b format (2.1 MB)

The Logitech stick microphone I reference in this podcast is pretty similar to this one; I put a folded bit of kleenex over the end of it to serve as a homemade pop screen. The programs that I reference using are Audacity, of course, and then also Gold Wave.

Pod Aware starts tomorrow!

Help spread the word on podfic (you don't need to be a podficcer to join in!).
[community profile] pod_aware || [community profile] pod_aware)

This November marks the second year that Pod Aware will be going on! Pod Aware is a week-long fest that helps to raise awareness and appreciation of podfic as a fanwork. This year's topics will be:

November 12: How We Podfic (creation and consumption)
November 13: Podfic Fandom (where to go to get started, places to hang out, atmosphere, etc.)
November 14: Recs (share some, talk about your favourite rec'ers or amplirecathon, etc.)
November 15: Acting (how podficcers approach the text, how various styles are received, etc.)
November 16: Special Effects (music, sounds effects, voices, etc. How to add them as a creator, how you enjoy them as a listener)
November 17: Collaboration (between multiple podficcers, podficcers and the author, beta, coverartists, etc.)
November 18: Feedback (back by popular demand)

I've recorded a couple of short podcasts for the 'How We Podfic' and 'Podfic Fandom' days, and I'll be posting them later this week. Please enjoy the fest; there were a lot of fun posts & podcasts & meta that came out of it last year, and hopefully this year will be the same!

Infinite mpg. Also, sexy.

It might be kind of weird, but one of the things I’ll miss most about my job of the last several months is my bike commute to work.

I’ve been riding a lovely recumbent bike I got as a hand-me-down from my sister since January; it is the comfiest thing on two wheels, and rain or shine (I’ve made exceptions for snow, but that’s about it) I’ve been cycling to and from work along pretty much the same route.

I watched and admired the neighborhood yards in February as the crocuses came up and the trees started to put on buds, I muddled along in my raingear on several days with torrential downpours, I oohed and ahhed over the flowering cherries and plums as spring came on, and I breathed a sigh of relief and put my waterproof pants away when Oregon’s lovely summer finally arrived and I was able to enjoy great biking weather for three months straight.

It’s been really nice and grounding to have a bit of exercise at the beginning and closing of my day – I’m absolutely terrible about doing any sort of working out or other physical activity, so I’m glad I've had something obligatory to keep me in shape. I think I’ve actually strengthened my legs a lot simply from the routine, which is nifty. And the only times I’ve had to buy gas for my car is when I’ve driven long distances to visit my sister or my mom; for getting around town my recumbent’s been all I’ve needed!

…of course, now I’m going to be commuting 40 minutes one way for the next year while I’m in school. Le sigh. I’ve sworn to myself that I’ll take up bike commuting again as soon as I can, though! *determined face*

\o hey dudes

It has been a while since I posted on this thing. So. The state of me.

I’m getting prepared to move about an hour north up the freeway in three weeks, and then starting my classes (going back to school, wooooo *waves eeny flag*) three weeks after that. Feeling a little bit (okay, a lot) of anxiety about it. I’ve been in this comfortable holding pattern ever since got my acceptance letter back in the spring, and overcoming that inertia is taking some effort.

It’s been two years since I did the whole full-time student thing, and this program is going to be really really intense. They’ve basically warned us straight up that it’s classes/labs Mon-Fri, 8 to 5 every day. And then homework/other assignments on top of that. I’m going to have to stay on top of things, because I can tell already that falling behind could be really, really bad.

I don’t know – transitions are always kind of stressful for me, and this one’s no exception. I’m wondering what my other classmates will be like – if any of them will be kind of non-traditional like me or not, or if they’ll all be younger than me. I’m wondering if I’ll have any free time to podfic at all, or if that’s going to have to be tabled while I’m in school. That would make me really sad; I’ve been enjoying being so participatory in fandom, on a level I never really have before, to be perfectly honest. I’m hoping I’ll be able to use podficcing as my stress relief, but then again that was also my goal last year during my second term in AmeriCorps, and 2011 was uh, not a good podfic year for me. But there’s a long project I want to start on soon that I’m legitimately psyched about working on (it’s going to take me months ahaha why /o\), so I hope I’ll be able to find the spoons to keep it up.

I think something that’ll help me keep my perspective over the next year is to keep in mind that I know this is where I want to go with my career. This is the culmination of over a year’s worth of research and applications and interviews. I know that I’m nervous, but I bet that the other folks in the program will be too, and hopefully it’ll be a supportive learning environment and not a dog-eat-dog one. :/ We’ll see. This is (hopefully) going to lead to a good, stable job for me, and at this point in my life that’s really my main goal. I can start worrying about other stuff after that.

Awww

My dad just sent me a care package that contained:
1. A book of Darwin Award stories
2. Two jars of Bonne Maman wild blueberry jam
3. Two pounds of buffalo jerky

I love my foodie, geeky family. ♥

Stole this from zolac_no_miko . *shrug* I've never actually felt like filling one of these out before? But this one seemed interesting for some reason.
